Brambly Hedge is very real to Jill Barklem, and through her beautiful illustrations she is able to make it real for millions of other people too. Although her vision is of an imaginary place, she has been influenced by her love of the countryside around her. Her first four books were published in 1980. Jill also wanted to bring a new generation of mice to the hedge. The first of these stories, The Secret Staircase, came about as she told her daughter Lizzie a bedtime story. Later came The High Hills, Sea Story and then Poppy’s Babies.
Dragons is delighted to announce, it is now possible to bring those imaginary places and characters into our homes, and more specifically into our children’s nurseries and play rooms.
